Guarantees and Certificates Record
A landscape register of everything that comes with finished building work: the builder's guarantee (what, how long, how to claim), any insurance-backed guarantee policy (insurer, policy number, cover, end date, conditions), product and manufacturer guarantees, certificates (building control, competent person scheme, electrical, gas), and an expiry and reminder grid so nothing lapses unnoticed, with where each document is kept. Explains in plain words the difference between a guarantee and an insurance-backed guarantee, that your legal rights continue whatever a guarantee says, and when the six-year time limit runs from.

What it is not
It is not legal advice, it is not insurance, and it cannot make a builder or a neighbour do anything. It explains what the law in England and Wales says and gives you a clear record. For free advice on your own situation, ring the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.
