What you may and may not do with the documents, in plain terms. The binding version is clause 4 of the terms of sale.
You may:
- Use, edit and reproduce the templates within your own business, forever. The licence is perpetual — no subscription, no expiry.
- Use them on projects you carry out for your clients.
You may not:
- Resell, redistribute, sub-licence, publish or share the templates — edited or unedited, paid or free.
- Incorporate them into any product or service offered to third parties as templates.
Your documents are personalised. Every file you download carries a footer with your order reference and, where you gave one at checkout, the name of the licensed business. It is there so a template that turns up somewhere it should not can be traced back — not to restrict what you do with your own completed documents, which you send to whoever the job requires. We do not put your email address on them, because completed documents get forwarded and that is your business, not the recipient's.
The copyright in the templates remains with us. One purchase covers one business; the licence is non-transferable.
Consultant licence
A health and safety adviser or consultancy that acts for several clients may buy the consultant licence instead of the standard one. For twelve months from purchase it permits the licensee:
- to use, adapt and complete any document in the library for the clients it advises, and to issue the completed document to that client under the client's name for the job it is written for;
- to receive every revision issued during the term at no charge, exactly as a standard buyer does.
It does not permit reselling, redistributing or publishing the templates themselves, edited or not, or supplying blank templates to a client as a product. The licence is for the consultancy's advice, not for the templates. Documents downloaded under it carry the consultancy's name in the footer. At the end of the term the documents already issued to clients stay theirs; the right to issue new ones ends unless the licence is renewed.
