Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002

Provisions the documents cite: reg 6(8) and Schedule 1 para 6

What it requires

The only place in UK health and safety law requiring "a system of permits to work" in those words — issued by a person with responsibility for that function, before work starts, in hazardous places or involving hazardous activities. Covers hot works, flammable atmospheres, fuel and gas systems, solvents in enclosed areas, LPG, DSEAR-zoned areas.

How this entry is kept current

  • Citation status: cited from the primary source.
  • Watched by: legislation.gov.uk Changes to Legislation tab.
  • Source last checked by the automated scan: 2026-09-01.

Every source is re-checked monthly and the result is published in the scan log. A change that alters what a document should say raises a revision, and past buyers of that document are told.
